We have been raising cattle for the past 28 years and, like many other ranchers, have had,Hereford, Black Angus, Red Angus,Gelbvie,Parthenais,Simmental,Charlois,WhitePark,South Devon,Tarentaise and all types of crosses. Over the past few years we have selected Tarentaise and South Devon and culled the rest.

AnotherEnglish Breed we have been researching is the British White.It supposedly is the most docile of all breeds ,throws small calves and has excellent marbeling.Several of these will be added to our herd for evaluation and confirmation of the claims.

Our goal is to raise a cross between Continental and British cattle to maximize heterosis to produce a high quality commercial calf.

The criteria we use for our selection is as follows;
a] easy handling in the field and in the chute. Any wild animals are sent to market.
b] moderate frame
c] good confirmation
d] polled
e] fleshing
f] calving ease
g] ability to gain on endophite fescue
h] maintain health on rocky slopes, hills and under Northern Kentucky weather.[Freeze,thaw,rain,wind,and sloppy cold muddy conditions]

The ones we want to keep are the ones you want to buy. The South Devon X Tarentaise have proven to be the ideal hybrid.

This South Devon X Tarentaise hybrid is an ideal bull for breeding with angus, hereford and
continental cattle.They are moderat in size,gentle,easy calving and good milk.
